As Hurricane Season approaches (June 1 through November 30), Management encourages all residents to take the appropriate precautions to ensure personal safety and emergency preparedness. While each resident is responsible for securing their individual unit, please know that Management and Staff have established emergency procedures to help protect the building and common areas.

The Venture at Aventura West is located within an official evacuation zone and may be vulnerable to flooding during severe weather events. Residents must comply with all mandatory evacuation orders issued by local or state authorities during hurricanes or other emergencies.

Once an evacuation order is announced, Management and Maintenance teams will begin implementing storm preparation procedures throughout the property. These measures include protecting elevator systems, HVAC equipment serving common areas, domestic water pumps, and securing designated access points and doors. These actions are intended to reduce potential damage resulting from power outages, flooding, or lightning strikes.

Management’s Hurricane Preparedness Plan

Management remains committed to protecting the property and minimizing risks during hurricane season. Our hurricane preparedness efforts include:

  • Securing all common areas and shared amenities
  • Inspecting and removing loose objects from outdoor spaces
  • Reinforcing roof-mounted equipment and critical building infrastructure
  • Coordinating with emergency vendors and recovery teams for post-storm response
  • Providing timely communication and updates to residents before, during, and after a storm

Please note that while Management will take every reasonable precaution to safeguard the building and common areas, residents are solely responsible for protecting their personal property and individual units.

Resident Hurricane Preparedness Guidelines

1. Update Your Emergency Contact Information

Please ensure your emergency contact information is current and on file with Management. Having accurate contact details allows us to reach you quickly in the event of an emergency or evacuation. Contact the front desk to update your information if necessary.

2. Prepare an Emergency Supply Kit

Important Notice: Not all residential buildings are equipped with emergency generators capable of powering individual units or maintaining full building operations during a power outage.

During a hurricane or prolonged electrical outage, some building systems and amenities may become temporarily unavailable, including:

  • Air conditioning
  • Elevators
  • Common area lighting
  • Internet and cable services
  • Other electricity-dependent systems

Residents are strongly encouraged to prepare in advance by:

  • Keeping flashlights, batteries, and portable phone chargers accessible
  • Maintaining an adequate supply of water, non-perishable food, medications, and other essentials
  • Charging all electronic devices before a storm
  • Making arrangements for medical or mobility needs that depend on electricity
  • Monitoring official hurricane advisories and following evacuation instructions from local authorities

3. Secure Your Unit

Residents should take the following precautions before a storm:

  • Remove all balcony furniture, plants, and loose outdoor items
  • Ensure windows and sliding glass doors are fully closed, locked, and properly sealed
  • Consider placing absorbent towels, water barriers, or protective door socks near sliding doors and windows to help minimize potential water intrusion
  • Clear balcony and patio drains to prevent flooding

If your unit will be unoccupied during hurricane season, please ensure these preparations are completed before leaving for an extended period. Residents should also arrange for someone to assist with emergency preparations if necessary.

4. Plan for Evacuation

  • Familiarize yourself with your evacuation zone and local evacuation routes
  • Make arrangements for pets and transportation in advance
  • Inform Management if you plan to evacuate or remain in place during a storm

5. Assistance for Residents with Special Needs

Residents requiring special assistance due to age, medical conditions, or mobility limitations are encouraged to contact the Management Office in advance so appropriate support can be coordinated if needed.

6. Communication During a Storm

Property Management will provide updates and important instructions through:

  • Email notifications
  • Notices posted in elevators and lobby areas

Residents are also encouraged to stay informed by monitoring reliable weather sources, including the National Hurricane Center.
