Move to Philadelphia

Life can be very unpredictable. You never know when a career change or a family emergency could completely derail your plans, setting you on a new path that is entirely different from your original objectives.

One common life change that often comes along quickly is a big move to a new place. Often, it is preceded by a new job or a desire to move closer to family. Perhaps you are simply looking to start fresh in a location where you have no established relationships. Maybe the city you are looking to move to is Philadelphia

This city in Pennsylvania is full of historical significance and unique culture. Moving to the Philadelphia area can be incredibly rewarding, no matter your reasons for relocating. However, there are a few things that you need to know before you make this move.

Plenty of Living Space Options

Philadelphia is a major city on the eastern seaboard of the United States. That means it has a very large and diverse population. With so many people concentrated in one area, there are a lot of options for you to choose the right living space for you and your family. You could rent a unit in one of the many apartment complexes across the metropolitan area. There are many multi-family homes that you could also rent if you need a little more space. Plenty of homes are on the market as well, with the median price currently sitting around $275,000. Not finding the perfect home? You could always buy a new construction home in Philadelphia to customize the design from start to finish.

Preparing for a Move

This can apply to making a big move across town or anywhere in the country. Moving can be incredibly stressful. Between packing everything up, organizing it, and keeping it safe during transit, there is a lot to think about. Preparing for a stress-free move may require a few extra steps. You could hire professional movers to make the job easier and avoid asking friends and family for assistance. Scheduling utility transfers far in advance can prevent a lot of issues in those first days in the new home. It is also wise to pack a first-night box that is separate from the bulk of your items so you can at least find everything needed the first night before having to unpack everything.

Deeply Passionate Sports City

If you know nothing about the city itself, then it is important to understand how much its residents care about their sports. Professional teams like the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL, the Phillies of the MLB, the 76ers of the NBA, the Flyers of the NHL, and more have incredibly passionate fanbases. Becoming a resident of this city might require that you at least have a working knowledge of this intense fan culture that exists. In the 60s, Eagles fans even pelted Santa Claus with snowballs and booed him at an NFL game, and that passion has hardly faded over time.

More Affordable Than Many East Coast Cities

If you are moving to Philadelphia, then you have chosen well. As big cities go, it is one of the most affordable areas in terms of the cost of living when compared to places like Boston, New York City, or Washington, D.C. Though the cost of living is a bit higher than most of the country, it is far lower than most large cities, making it the perfect spot for families from all backgrounds. Additionally, the transit system in Philadelphia is quite affordable and more efficient than some of its East Coast counterparts, which by itself is enough of an incentive for workers to enjoy living here.

A Rich History and Culture

Philadelphia might boast the most impressive history in the entire country. For one thing, it is considered the birthplace of the United States, where the founding fathers gathered to meet in the Continental Congress and declare their independence as a new nation. With sites like the Liberty Bell Center and Independence Hall, this city can be a fantastic place to live for history buffs and those who appreciate the story of the USA’s beginnings. Also, one of Philadelphia’s greatest strengths is its diversity, which resulted from many nationalities and ethnic groups migrating to this center in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Philadelphia is a Beautiful Place to Live

Whatever decisions have led you to end up in this beautiful city will never be regretted. Philadelphia is a great combination of history, passionate residents who love sports, affordability, diverse peoples, and versatile living space opportunities. People from all backgrounds have built amazing lives in this city, and if you are next in line, then the City of Brotherly Love will surely welcome you with open arms. Just make sure you are an Eagles fan.
